ATGLEN, PA — The Octorara Area School District (OASD) Board of Directors has appointed Dr. Shawn Dutkiewicz as its next Superintendent of Schools, effective September 1, 2025. The decision was finalized during the Board’s August 11 work session, approving a five-year contract.
Dr. Dutkiewicz brings over 25 years of experience in public education, including leadership roles in administration, curriculum, and instruction. He currently serves as Assistant to the Superintendent for K–12 Teaching and Learning in the Radnor Township School District. His career includes six years in central office leadership, 12 years as an elementary principal, two years as a K–6 Math and Science coordinator, and five years as a classroom teacher.
His tenure has been marked by measurable academic gains and innovative program development. At Chadds Ford Elementary, where he served as principal, the school consistently ranked among Pennsylvania’s top 10 elementary schools and was named the #1 elementary school in Chester County by NICHE. In Radnor, he led the implementation of a district-wide K–12 Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework and created the Innovation Design Studio, a STEM and computer science program that emphasizes engineering, design, and problem-solving skills.
Dr. Dutkiewicz holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Widener University, a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from West Chester University. His credentials include Superintendent Letter of Eligibility, K–12 Principal, and K–6 Supervisor of Curriculum certifications.
“I am extremely honored and excited to join the Octorara Area School District family as the next Superintendent of Schools,” Dutkiewicz said. “Together, we will do great things.”
Board President Matthew Hurley praised Dutkiewicz’s leadership approach and focus on students, staff, and families. “His commitment to fostering a positive school climate, building strong relationships, and advancing innovative programs like STEM education aligns well with our district’s goals,” Hurley said.
