MALVERN, PA — Sneakers will squeak, crowds will cheer, and friendly rivalries will heat up as Great Valley High School students hit the court for a high-energy 3v3 Basketball Tournament — all in support of their fellow classmates.
Hosted by the Great Valley High School Desmond Project, the annual tournament tips off Saturday, February 28 at 12:30 p.m. in the school’s main gym. The event brings students together in teams of three to compete for a $120 grand prize, while raising funds to support student achievers across the Great Valley School District.
Proceeds from the tournament help provide scholarships and educational opportunities for exceptional students, reinforcing the Desmond Project’s mission to empower academic success and community connection.
Beyond the competition, the afternoon promises school spirit and camaraderie. Spectators are invited to watch the games, rally behind their classmates and even win free Great Valley merchandise.
“The tournament was a really great experience playing with my friends and playing against other teams,” said 2025 tournament winner Arin Wani. “Overall, everyone was incredibly supportive, win or lose. It was so fun to play the sport I love with all my friends and the school supporting me.”
Organizers say the tournament is about more than basketball. It emphasizes teamwork, inclusivity and strengthening the bonds that make the Great Valley community special.
