The AACC represents nearly 1,000 associate-degree granting institutions across the United States, advocating for policies and initiatives that benefit more than 10 million students, which accounts for nearly half of all U.S. undergraduates. Board members are selected by their peers and play a vital role in shaping the organization’s advocacy and educational strategies.

“Selected by their peers, the AACC Board of Directors are recognized leaders that bring a wealth of knowledge and an unwavering commitment to student success,” said Walter G. Dr. Cronin has been a prominent leader in the community college system for over two decades and became the President of Delaware County Community College in July 2023. A first-generation college graduate and the daughter of immigrant parents, her personal and professional story reflects her dedication to expanding access to higher education. She is the second woman and the first Latina to lead the College, making her election to the AACC board a historic milestone.

She has focused on increasing dual enrollment programs for high school students, launching pilot options like the Teacher Education and Social Work programs. She has also championed the development of the future Southeast Center in Upper Darby Township, as well as the expansion of offerings in Chester County.

Beyond her work at the College, Dr. Cronin plays an active role in regional economic and social progress. She serves on the boards of the Chester County Economic Development Council and the Riverfront Alliance of Chester County. Additionally, she holds a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Sarasota.

Dr. Cronin’s election to the AACC Board of Directors underscores her commitment to advancing community college education and providing opportunities for students nationwide. Her leadership on the board is expected to further amplify the impact of community colleges on educational and economic development across the United States.
