YORK, PA — Pennwood Cyber Charter School marked a historic milestone on June 6, 2025, as it celebrated the graduation of its inaugural Class of 2025. Family, friends, and school administrators came together at The Parkesburg Point Youth Center in Parkesburg, Pennsylvania, to honor 59 seniors from across the state.
“This commencement ceremony marks a significant milestone for Pennwood Cyber Charter School as we honor our inaugural class,” said Chris Moser, CEO of Pennwood Cyber Charter School. “It has been remarkable to witness these outstanding students accomplish so much through hard work and perseverance. Our first graduates will always hold a special place in our school’s history, and we wish them nothing but the best on their future success.”
Pennwood’s unique online public charter school model allows students to learn at their own pace in a flexible environment tailored to their needs. Among the graduates, 30% participated in programs with industry-leading partners, demonstrating the school’s emphasis on career and college readiness.
The Class of 2025 represented students from Downingtown, Philadelphia, Stroudsburg, and other communities throughout Pennsylvania. About 19% of the class plans to continue their education at two- or four-year colleges, including institutions such as Duquesne University, University of Michigan, and George Mason University. An additional 12% are pursuing vocational training, while others are entering the workforce, the military, or other opportunities.
“We are immensely proud of every one of our graduates,” said Michael Micco, Principal of Pennwood Cyber Charter School. “They have grown not just in academics, but in self-assurance and in character, fostered by the supportive and collaborative environment that our online public charter school offers. I have confidence that the resilience and adaptability our graduates have developed here will serve them well in all of their future endeavors.”
Pennwood serves over 800 students statewide, offering a tuition-free, personalized education through a combination of core courses, electives, and career-focused programs. Its curriculum, developed in partnership with the nationally recognized Connections Academy, integrates traditional academics with real-world learning opportunities.
The school’s initiatives include dual-credit and tri-credit programs that allow students to earn a high school diploma while gaining industry-recognized certifications or college credit. Partnerships with institutions like Drexel University and organizations such as Coursera and OSHA further enhance these opportunities. Additionally, Pennwood offers an innovative three-week “C-Term” session, where high school students can access college prep courses while younger students explore career and college preparation activities.
Pennwood Cyber Charter School’s inaugural class leaves a legacy of achievement, signaling the success of its educational model in preparing students for bright futures in higher education, careers, and beyond.
