CHESTER COUNTY, PA — A high-demand career training program at Chester County Technical College High School is expanding to new campuses, giving more students a direct pathway from classroom to licensed profession.

The Barbering program, currently based at the Brandywine campus, will launch at the Pennock’s Bridge campus in West Grove for the 2026–27 school year, with plans to open at the Pickering campus in Phoenixville in 2027–28. School officials said the expansion responds to strong student interest and growing workforce demand in the skilled trades.

The program allows students to complete 1,250 hours of instruction and, by their senior year, prepare to sit for the Pennsylvania barbering licensing exam, enabling them to enter the workforce immediately after graduation.

Students receive hands-on training that blends technical instruction with professional and business skills. The curriculum is structured in progressive stages, beginning with safety, sanitation, and foundational techniques, advancing to hair cutting, shaving, and facial services, and culminating in preparation for the state licensing exam.

In addition to technical training, students can earn up to three college credits and participate in workplace experiences designed to build confidence and establish industry connections. The program also introduces students to the business side of barbering, including shop operations and entrepreneurship, for those interested in owning or managing a barbershop.
