DOWNINGTOWN, PA â The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) has named Aileen Burr as the new principal of Kâ12 online learning for Brandywine Virtual Academy (BVA), bringing with her a track record of instructional leadership and a focus on student-centered education.
Burr previously served as executive director of curriculum and instruction at Chester Community Charter School, where she oversaw academic programming for 4,000 students across eight campuses. Her work included spearheading initiatives in math, science, educational technology, and social-emotional learning (SEL), while developing systems to support school leaders and instructional staff.
“I am honored to be a part of the CCIU and lead the BVA team,” Burr said. “I am passionate about educating the whole child, fostering student and staff wellness, and ensuring engaging, rigorous instruction. I look forward to supporting our students and advancing the mission and vision of Brandywine Virtual Academy.”
Throughout her career, Burr has held several leadership roles, including academic director, instructional coach, department lead, assistant principal, and director of teaching and learning, primarily in schools across the Philadelphia region.
She earned her bachelorâs degree in elementary education from West Chester University and a masterâs in education with a concentration in brain-based teaching and learning from Gratz College. Burr also completed her principal certification through TNTPâs PhillyPLUS Principal Residency program.
Her appointment supports CCIUâs broader mission to drive educational innovation and equity. The organization anticipates that Burrâs leadership will further strengthen BVAâs role in delivering high-quality virtual instruction across Chester County and beyond.
