WEST CHESTER, PA — The West Chester Downtown Foundation (WCDF) will celebrate excellence in preservation and community stewardship at its 2025 Preservation Awards ceremony, taking place Thursday, October 16, at 5:30 p.m. at the Chester County History Center.
Now in its annual tradition, the event honors projects and individuals that preserve and enhance the Borough’s historic character. The awards highlight achievements that reflect West Chester’s architectural heritage, community engagement, and long-term commitment to preservation.
The WCDF Preservation Awards are presented in three categories: Bricks & Mortar Awards for outstanding architectural and construction work; Preservation Service Awards recognizing educational and advocacy efforts; and the Preservation Legacy Award for enduring contributions to local heritage.
“Preserving our past is how we enrich our future,” said Allen Burke, chair of the 2025 Awards Committee. “Every restored façade, every preserved building, and every public education effort brings us closer to maintaining the unique character and historical integrity of our community.”
In addition to the awards, WCDF will announce its 2025 grant recipients, recognizing local initiatives that strengthen the Borough’s historic fabric. Guests will include preservation professionals, municipal officials, business owners, and residents dedicated to safeguarding the town’s architectural and cultural legacy.
Proceeds from the event support the Foundation’s mission to promote economic vitality, preservation, and cultural enrichment throughout downtown West Chester. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available by contacting Allen Burke at aburke317@aol.com.
Founded as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the West Chester Downtown Foundation continues to serve as a catalyst for preservation and revitalization, helping ensure that West Chester’s historic identity remains an enduring part of its future.
