DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Holiday visitors won’t have to feed the meters this season in Downingtown, where the Borough Council voted unanimously on November 19 to waive all parking fees in municipal lots through January 1, 2026.
The move, aimed at encouraging foot traffic for local shops and restaurants during the busiest retail stretch of the year, makes parking free for both residents and visitors across designated borough lots. Officials said they hope the gesture will draw more people downtown to experience the borough’s businesses, dining, and seasonal attractions.
While fees are suspended, the borough cautioned that posted two-hour time limits in certain areas will still be enforced to prevent long-term parking and ensure turnover for shoppers.
“We hope this will encourage those to visit our businesses and restaurants this season and to see all Downingtown has to offer,” officials said in a statement, adding well-wishes for a safe and healthy holiday season.
