It is more correctly classified as a “census-designated place”‘ a large population identified by the United States Census Bureau for statistical purposes only. Nevertheless, it is the major shopping district of Chester County.
With over 80 nearby restaurants, the community is home to hundreds of businesses, larger and small. An hour east of Philadelphia, it is centered at the intersection of U.S. Route 30 (once known as Lincoln Highway) and PA Route 100 (Pottstown Pike). Moreover, their train station is part of Amtrak’s Philadelphia to Harrisburg Main Line.
The area is served by two school districts, the Downingtown Area School District and West Chester Area School District, both of which are highly rated.
