COATESVILLE, PA — A 20-year-old Coatesville man has been charged with first-degree murder following an investigation into the death of his girlfriend, according to the Chester County District Attorney’s Office.
Kevin Reza-Gonzales also faces charges of third-degree murder and strangulation. He was arraigned before Judge Gregory Hines and committed to Chester County Prison without bail, authorities reported.
According to the criminal complaint, Reza-Gonzales called 911 at approximately 11 a.m. Aug. 2 and reported having thoughts of self-harm. Coatesville police located him near Chester Avenue and East Lincoln Highway.
Investigators allege Reza-Gonzales told officers that he and the victim had argued and that he had choked her. Police then conducted a welfare check at the victim’s residence, where officers found her dead on a bed with bruising and injuries to her neck, according to the complaint.
Authorities allege Reza-Gonzales strangled the victim earlier that morning. The District Attorney’s Office did not release the victim’s identity.
Reza-Gonzales is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 12.
The Coatesville City Police Department is leading the investigation with assistance from Chester County detectives.
