Mullen Coughlin Expands London Cyber Practice With Partner Hire

Mullen Coughlin

DEVON, PA — Mullen Coughlin LLC has added veteran cyber incident response attorney George Chaisty as a senior partner in its London office, strengthening the firm’s ability to advise multinational organizations navigating data breaches, ransomware attacks, and regulatory investigations across multiple jurisdictions.

The hire expands Mullen Coughlin’s international incident response practice as organizations face increasing scrutiny under global data protection laws and a rising volume of cyberattacks that can trigger legal obligations across multiple jurisdictions.

Chaisty has managed hundreds of cybersecurity and data privacy investigations involving organizations with legal and regulatory exposure in more than 100 jurisdictions, according to the firm. His experience includes advising clients during ransomware incidents, business email compromise schemes, fraudulent wire transfers, and other network intrusions.

Before joining Mullen Coughlin, Chaisty was a partner on the cyber and data risk team of a global law firm based in the United Kingdom. He also completed legal secondments with two global insurance carriers, experience that provided insight into cyber claims handling and the cyber insurance market.

The move expands Mullen Coughlin’s European capabilities as organizations increasingly require coordinated legal advice spanning the United Kingdom, European Union, United States, and other regions with differing privacy and breach-notification requirements.

Chaisty characterized the role as an opportunity to work across both data privacy matters and the broader cyber insurance ecosystem.

“I am particularly thrilled at the prospect of being able to work alongside the best data privacy lawyers in the industry and provide the best IR offering in the global market for organizations responding to data privacy and security incidents, as well as for the broader cyber insurance ecosystem of carriers, brokers, insureds, and industry partners,” he said.

The firm established its London office and international practice two years ago as part of an effort to expand its cross-border cybersecurity capabilities.

“Since the foundation of our London office and International practice two years ago, our focus has been on innovative and responsive counsel for clients facing global cyber issues,” noted Cameron Carr, managing partner of Mullen Coughlin’s UK operation. “George’s expertise enhances our team’s deep expertise of cross-border lawyers.”

Chaisty is a frequent speaker at cybersecurity and privacy conferences in the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States, presenting on topics including ransomware, digital forensics, cyber risk management, and data protection regulations.

Jennifer A. Coughlin, managing member of the firm, described the addition as part of Mullen Coughlin’s ongoing effort to expand its cybersecurity and privacy bench as demand for incident response and breach counsel services grows internationally.

“His extensive experience, trusted reputation, and forward-thinking approach makes him a natural fit for our team,” Coughlin said. “We are confident that his contributions will further enhance the depth and strength of the Firm.”
