Police Hunt for Answers After Fatal Claymont Shooting

CLAYMONT, DE — New Castle County police are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 21-year-old man Saturday afternoon in the Woodstream Garden Apartments community.

According to the New Castle County Division of Police, officers responded at approximately 4:17 p.m. June 6 to the 900 block of Peachtree Road following reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found 21-year-old Amir Reynolds in the roadway suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body, police said. Officers immediately began providing life-saving measures until emergency medical personnel arrived.

According to police, Reynolds was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite those efforts, he later died from his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Detectives assigned to the Division’s Criminal Investigations Unit and Evidence Detection Unit responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation, police reported.

Authorities said the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, and no information regarding a suspect or possible motive had been released as of the latest update.
