NEW CASTLE, DE — More than 14,000 bags of fentanyl were discovered in a wooded area in the Radnor Green neighborhood Sunday evening, according to New Castle County Police.
Police reported that around 5:30 p.m., a young adult and a juvenile walking through woods off Miles Road found two grocery bags and suspected the contents were illegal narcotics.
According to police, the individuals returned home and notified a family member, who then contacted authorities.
Officers responded and observed that the bags contained suspected narcotics. Police stated the items were transported to headquarters for analysis.
Investigators reported that testing confirmed the substance was fentanyl. According to authorities, the two packages—commonly referred to as “bricks”—contained a total of 14,088 individual bags.
Police are asking anyone with information about the origin of the narcotics to contact the New Castle County Division of Police at 302-573-2800 or call 911 in an emergency.
Authorities also reminded the public not to handle suspected narcotics and to contact law enforcement immediately due to the potential danger of exposure.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
