Human Remains Found Near Creek Spark, Investigation Ongoing

WILMINGTON, DE — Police are investigating after human remains were discovered in a wooded area Sunday evening in New Castle County, authorities said.

According to the New Castle County Division of Police, officers were dispatched at approximately 5:22 p.m. March 29, 2026, to the unit block of Ravine Road in the Highland Woods neighborhood for a report of a possible human skull found near a creek.

Investigators said preliminary observations indicated the remains appeared to be a human skull showing signs of prolonged environmental exposure.

Police reported that the Delaware Division of Forensic Science was contacted, and detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit responded to assist with a coordinated search of the area.

According to authorities, an additional bone of unknown origin was located during the search.

Officials said all recovered remains were turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for testing and analysis as investigators work to determine the identity of the individual.

The Criminal Investigations Unit, in coordination with the Delaware Division of Forensic Science, is continuing to investigate.
