PHILADELPHIA, PA — Cradles to Crayons-Philadelphia has launched its annual Spring Greening clothing drive as of April 1 to collect donated children’s clothing for distribution to families in need across the region.
The nonprofit said the collection will run through April 25 at 16 drop-off locations across Philadelphia, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties.
According to the organization, donated items will be distributed through more than 150 nonprofit and community partners serving children experiencing poverty and homelessness.
Cradles to Crayons said the initiative is aimed at addressing clothing insecurity, which affects an estimated three in five children in Philadelphia.
The group said the program also supports environmental goals by diverting clothing from landfills, noting that Americans discard millions of pounds of textiles each year.
