UPPER GWYNEDD TWP, PA — Construction is set to begin Monday, March 2, on a project to remove and replace the bridge carrying Old Allentown Road over Towamencin Creek in Montgomery County.

PennDOT said the $345,692 project will remove the existing bridge, which is in poor condition, and replace it with a residential driveway to maintain access for a single property owner to Allentown Road. Ownership of the new driveway will be transferred to the property owner upon completion.

The project does not involve the publicly used Allentown Road Bridge over Towamencin Creek.

Specific road restrictions have not yet been announced, but PennDOT indicated that closures are planned and details will be released before any traffic impacts begin. Motorists traveling in the area should prepare for potential lane restrictions or detours once work advances.

Plan extra time when traveling near the work zone and remain alert for changing traffic patterns. All activities are weather dependent, and schedules may shift accordingly.
