HORSHAM, PA — Biocoat has formally launched Surmodics Services & Technologies, a newly named division that will carry forward the core Biocoat operations retained following its merger with Surmodics and the divestiture of select assets tied to the transaction.
The new division represents the legacy Biocoat business that was not sold and will now operate within the Surmodics organization under a distinct identity. Based in Horsham, Surmodics Services & Technologies will continue providing advanced hydrophilic and specialty coating technologies, along with development and engineering services, to medical device manufacturers worldwide.
Company officials said the division is structured to operate as a streamlined, customer-focused organization, working closely with device makers throughout the product lifecycle. Its Project Development and Engineering team brings decades of experience, supporting programs from early-stage concepts through full commercial production.
The Horsham facility offers scalable capabilities designed to serve start-ups, contract manufacturers, and large original equipment manufacturers alike. Services include formulation development, feasibility testing, process optimization, and high-volume coating production, positioning the division as an end-to-end partner for medical device innovation.
“Today marks a significant milestone for our organization and for the customers we serve,” said Chip Hance, chief executive officer of Surmodics. He said the new division reflects a continued focus on agility, innovation, and scientific expertise while maintaining close collaboration with medical device manufacturers.
Surmodics Services & Technologies is expected to play a central role in supporting next-generation medical devices, as manufacturers seek reliable partners capable of accelerating development while meeting demanding performance and quality requirements.
