New Lane Closures on High Street to Complicate Travel Through West Chester

Lane Closure - Traffic Alert

WEST CHESTER, PA — Motorists should expect fresh delays next week along Business U.S. 322 as PennDOT continues its multi-year safety improvement project on the High Street corridor in West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township.

From Monday, December 1, through Friday, December 5, a weekday lane closure with flagging will be in place between Lacey Street and Linden Street from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The restriction will allow crews to install lighting conduit as part of ongoing construction. PennDOT is advising drivers to plan for backups and slow-moving traffic. All work is weather dependent.

The project includes the installation of new traffic signals at University Avenue and Sharpless Street, along with retroreflective backplates on existing signals, modern LED luminaires, pedestrian countdown timers, curb extensions, high-visibility crosswalks, drainage improvements, and full-depth pavement restoration that will culminate in a complete resurfacing of the corridor.

Marino Corporation of Skippack is overseeing the $2.6 million federally funded project, which is expected to reach full completion in winter 2026.
