CLIFTON HEIGHTS, PA — A major travel disruption is on the way for Delaware County motorists as the Upper Darby School District prepares to close a section of Springfield Road for more than three months to complete stormwater, paving, signalization, and streetscape improvements.
Beginning Monday, December 1, and continuing through Monday, March 2, 2026, Springfield Road will be closed on weekdays between Fairview Avenue and Oak Avenue from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. During the shutdown, drivers will be detoured along Springfield Avenue, Baltimore Pike, and Oak Avenue. Local access will remain available. All work is weather dependent.
The construction effort is part of a broader infrastructure upgrade supporting district-related improvements in the surrounding area. PennDOT is urging drivers to build in additional travel time and be prepared for consistent congestion throughout the detour route.
