HARRISBURG, PA — State authorities have charged a Beaver County man in connection with the fentanyl-related death of a 24-year-old Aliquippa man in 2023, following a months-long investigation that traced the supply of the deadly drug.
Attorney General Dave Sunday announced that 43-year-old Donald J. Duncan, of New Brighton, has been charged with felony drug delivery resulting in death and related offenses. The charges stem from the November 20, 2023, incident in which the victim was found unconscious outside an apartment building and later died at a hospital. Investigators allege that Duncan provided the fentanyl pills linked to the fatal overdose.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, investigators relied on cellphone records and other investigative tactics to connect Duncan to the supply of the drugs. Duncan was arraigned Tuesday, and bail was set at $75,000.
In announcing the charges, Attorney General Sunday emphasized the ongoing threat posed by fentanyl, describing the synthetic opioid as a lethal substance responsible for widespread harm across Pennsylvania communities. Beaver County District Attorney Nathan Bible also commended state investigators, noting their role in advancing the case and supporting the family of the deceased.
The Beaver County District Attorney’s Office will prosecute the case. All charges are allegations, and a suspect or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
