Wilmington Man Arrested After Alleged Drug Activity and Scooter Chase

WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man is facing multiple drug-related charges after police say he attempted to flee officers on a motorized scooter during an investigation last week.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, the incident occurred around 9:36 a.m. on November 7, 2025, when members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division were patrolling the 1700 block of West 3rd Street. Officers observed a man allegedly engaged in drug-related activity and attempted to make contact with him.

Police said the suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Rasheed Patterson, fled the area on a motorized scooter before being apprehended a short time later without further incident. Upon his arrest, Patterson was allegedly found in possession of approximately 1.56 grams of heroin.

Patterson has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity, resisting arrest, and illegal operation of a motorized scooter.

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $13,000 cash-only bail.

Authorities remind the public that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
