NORTH EAST, MD — The Cecil County Independent Film Festival returns to the Milburn Stone Theatre this weekend with an exciting “Best of the Fest” lineup, featuring some of the most memorable and acclaimed films from the festival’s first five seasons. To celebrate its milestone and thank both audiences and filmmakers for their continued support, this year’s festival is completely free to attend.
The festival runs November 15–16, 2025, offering two days of inspiring, thought-provoking, and entertaining independent cinema from around the world — all screened in the intimate and comfortable setting of the Milburn Stone Theatre at Cecil College.
This “Best of the Fest” edition highlights standout selections from past years, showcasing the wide range of genres and voices that have made the Cecil County Independent Film Festival a beloved annual event for film lovers across the region. From gripping documentaries and innovative short films to imaginative animations and compelling features, the festival continues to champion the creativity and passion of independent filmmakers.
“The festival has grown tremendously since its first season,” said Andrew John Mitchell, Director of the Festival and one of the organizers from the Milburn Stone Theatre team. “We wanted to do something special to honor our filmmakers, our audiences, and the Cecil County arts community — and what better way than to make this year’s event entirely free and filled with our favorite films from years past.”
Festivalgoers can expect a weekend filled with cinematic discovery, lively conversation, and community connection. The event also continues the Milburn Stone Theatre’s commitment to supporting diverse artistic voices and providing opportunities for local audiences to experience professional-level arts programming right in Cecil County.
