PHILADELPHIA, PA — Les Dames d’Escoffier Philadelphia will host its 2025 Outstanding in Her Field Heritage Dinner on Sunday, September 28, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bartram’s Garden, bringing together more than two dozen of the region’s leading chefs, bakers, and restaurateurs. The annual event raises funds for scholarships supporting women entering culinary and hospitality fields while honoring local leaders for their contributions.
This year’s honorees include Lisa Calvo, oyster farmer and owner of Sweet Amalia Oyster Farm and Market; Melissa McGrath, chef and partner at Sweet Amalia Market & Kitchen; and Valerie Erwin, longtime Philadelphia chef and social justice activist.
“Though there is much good work done by our chapter and honorees during the other 364 days of the year, on this night the communal meal and awards create a laser beam of attention on that mission,” said Lynn Buono, co-president of Les Dames Philadelphia.
The dinner will feature a raw bar with Sweet Amalia oysters alongside a family-style menu curated by acclaimed Philadelphia chefs. Highlights include roasted oysters, tomato pie, wood-grilled heirloom carrots, southern braised short ribs, seafood dishes, and vegan offerings. Desserts will range from artisan chocolates and cream puffs to macarons and custom cakes.
Founded in 2016, Outstanding in Her Field recognizes women in the Philadelphia area who have shaped the food, beverage, and hospitality industries. Past honorees include Claire Boasi, Susanna Foo, Aliza Green, Judy Wicks, and Ellen Yin.
Proceeds will fund scholarships and grants through the Philadelphia chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier International, which supports women pursuing careers in food, beverage, and agriculture. Tickets, starting at \$175, are available at lesdamesphilly.org/events.
