IMMACULATA, PA — Immaculata University has introduced the Immaculata University Community Music School, a new program designed to bring high-level music education and performance opportunities to students of all ages and skill levels across Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Berks counties.
Music has been central to Immaculata’s mission since its founding in 1920. The university has long been recognized for preparing educators, performers, and music therapists, and the new school extends that legacy to the broader community.
“Building on Immaculata’s strong music traditions, the newly established Immaculata University Community Music School extends these opportunities even further,” said Joseph Gehring, Ed.D., chair of the music department and director of ensembles. “Through the Community Music School, we can now provide exceptional music education to all students of music, not just to college students.”
Participants may choose from private lessons or group classes taught by faculty members and trained student instructors. Lessons are available in 30-, 45-, or 60-minute weekly sessions and can be held either on campus or virtually. Each semester spans 12 weeks, with fall, spring, and summer enrollment periods. Instruction emphasizes technique, musicianship, repertoire, and performance development.
As an All-Steinway School, Immaculata offers access to professional-quality instruments in all studios and performance venues, enhancing the learning environment. The program will also feature masterclasses, ensembles, summer camps, and other opportunities to broaden musical experiences. Students are expected to have their own practice instruments and will take part in recitals and performance events throughout the year.
With this launch, Immaculata aims to make music education more accessible while reinforcing its long-standing role as a cultural and educational hub for the region.
