PHILADELPHIA, PA — Atlantic City is set for a playful dose of nostalgia this summer as Without a Cue Productions rolls out two immersive shows inspired by beloved TV classics. Starting July 12 and running every Saturday through August 23, Resorts Casino Hotel’s Starlight Ballroom will host “Mrs. Roper Romp” and “A Golden Girls Murder Mystery: A Family Affair.”
Fans of Three’s Company can relive the fun of the 1970s at Mrs. Roper Romp. The event invites guests to don caftans, curly red wigs, and chunky jewelry for a night of themed cocktails, party games, and Yacht Rock music. Signature drinks such as “The Jack Tripper” and “The Janet Special” set the tone, while games and dance numbers keep the energy high.
“I loved watching Three’s Company and Mrs. Roper — she was a true TV comedy icon,” said Without a Cue Productions’ founder and executive director Traci Connaughton. “This was the first show I wrote when Without a Cue opened in our first permanent home, the Red Rum Theater in Philadelphia. It’s one of our most immersive events and one of my personal favorites.”
Mrs. Roper Romp is general admission at $22 plus fees, with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. and the show starting at 8:00 p.m. each Saturday. The experience runs 90 minutes and promises prizes for the best costumes and a surprise performance to cap off the evening.
Meanwhile, fans of The Golden Girls will enjoy a different kind of excitement with A Golden Girls Murder Mystery: A Family Affair. Audience members step into a lively party hosted by Sophia, Blanche, Rose, and Dorothy, only to discover a mystery unfolds when a guest turns up with deadly intentions. Attendees will play detective, collecting clues to solve the whodunnit by the show’s end — with a prize awaiting one sharp-eyed guest.
“A Golden Girls Murder Mystery: A Family Affair is the fifth in our series of Golden Girls Murder Mysteries,” Connaughton said. “Dorothy’s sarcasm will have your sides splitting, Rose’s naivete will have you bent over in laughter, Blanche’s antics will have you crying tears of joy, and Sophia will just kill. Listen closely, gather the clues, and try to deduce who the killer is and win the prize!”
The Golden Girls experience is general admission at $35 plus fees, starting at 5:00 p.m. each Saturday. Recommended for ages 13 and up, the show runs 90 minutes, with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. Guests can enjoy cocktails during the performance, and the venue offers multiple dining options to complete the evening.
Connaughton summed up the season’s offerings: “Celebrate the hit shows of the 70s, 80s, and 90s with us as we throw it back for a campy summer at the Shore. Don’t forget to pack your favorite caftan, curly red wig, and magnifying glass, as we are turning up the nostalgia for two big shows that open this July.”
Tickets for both events are on sale now. Whether you’re channeling your inner Mrs. Roper or trying to solve a seaside murder with the Golden Girls, this summer promises a colorful blend of laughter, music, and mystery on the Atlantic City boardwalk.
