Villanova University Names Christine Kelleher Palus as Senior Vice Provost for Academics

VILLANOVA, PAVillanova University has announced the appointment of Christine Kelleher Palus, PhD, as Senior Vice Provost for Academics, effective August 1, 2025. An accomplished academic leader and a member of Villanova’s faculty since 2006, Dr. Palus brings a depth of experience in higher education administration and a strong commitment to the University’s Augustinian Catholic mission.

“Dr. Palus is a highly respected and accomplished member of the Villanova community. Throughout her tenure, she has consistently embodied the values that define Villanova, and her outstanding academic record speaks volumes,” said University President the Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, ‘75 CLAS. “We look forward to the impact of her vision and expertise as she continues to help shape the future of the academic experience at Villanova.”

Dr. Palus has served as Dean of Villanova’s College of Professional Studies for the past seven years, overseeing strategic planning, program development, admissions, faculty management, and more. Under her leadership, the College expanded its offerings to include campus and online programs in degree completion, certificates, and professional education, significantly benefiting students and corporate partners alike.

Her new role as Senior Vice Provost for Academics will task her with providing strategic leadership for Villanova’s academic programming, faculty governance, promotion and tenure processes, and the development of innovative approaches to teaching and learning. She will also guide the University in strengthening its academic initiatives, policies, and operations while advancing faculty development.

Dr. Palus’ leadership experience also includes serving as Dean of Graduate Studies in Villanova’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, where she managed over 20 graduate programs, including PhD and professional degrees. A noted scholar in public administration and state and local governance, she has received accolades for her research, including the prestigious Beryl Radin award for Best Article published in the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory.

Maggitti, PhD, Villanova’s Provost. “Her vast knowledge and exceptional experience as an administrator, scholar, and teacher will enrich the academic leadership team and the University as a whole. Dr. Palus earned her undergraduate degree from Fairfield University, where she double majored in Politics and Visual and Performing Arts (Music), before earning her MA and PhD in Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her appointment as Senior Vice Provost underscores Villanova’s dedication to academic leadership and innovation within its community.
