KENNETT SQUARE, PA — The Kennett Symphony is proudly celebrating Dr. Timothy V. Blair, who was recently honored with the Distinguished Service Award by the Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association (PMTA) at their annual conference held on June 7, 2025, at Lycoming College. The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication and service to PMTA and the broader music education community in Pennsylvania.

“What a perfectly named award,” said Colin Hanna, Vice-President of the Kennett Symphony. “Tim Blair is a distinguished gentleman, a distinguished musician and a distinguished teacher. It’s an honor that is well deserved.”

Dr. Blair’s impact on the music community extends well beyond state borders. A Steinway Artist and Dean & Professor Emeritus at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, he is recognized internationally for his contributions as an educator, administrator, and performer. He serves on the board of several prestigious arts organizations, including the GRAMMY-winning ensemble The Crossing, and has played a pivotal role in global music education through his work with Steinway Asia Pacific and numerous adjudication panels.

Earlier this year, in March, Dr. Blair received the Leadership Service Award from the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) at its national conference in Minneapolis. The honor, which acknowledges exceptional contributions to the profession, was celebrated by the Kennett Symphony during its sold-out Masterworks 2: Inspirations concert at Longwood Gardens.

A heartfelt nomination letter from internationally acclaimed pianist and educator Dr. Igor Resnianski highlighted Dr. Blair’s profound impact on his peers and students. “Dr. Blair is an extremely caring teacher, a hardworking musician and clinician, and a visionary leader who has served our profession with distinction for decades,” wrote Dr. Resnianski.
