DEVON, PA — Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06) this week launched her second television ad of the 2022 cycle, “One Chip at a Time.”
“One Chip at a Time” highlights how Houlahan has put her background and expertise in supply chain management to work in Congress, leading efforts to fix supply chains, bring manufacturing back to the U.S., and lower costs for families and businesses.
Serving as an engineer in the Air Force, Houlahan analyzed and modeled the impacts of various supply chain shocks on our national security. Then, as a graduate student at MIT, Houlahan wrote her thesis – “Reduction of front-end loading of inventory: making the airframe industry lean through better inventory management” – on supply chain management. Now, as broken supply chains and rising prices are impacting Pennsylvania families and businesses, Houlahan employs her expertise in Congress, where she is pushing crucial solutions. Specifically, in Congress, Houlahan:
- Co-Founded the New Democrat Coalition’s Inflation Working Group, which wrote and released what Forbes Magazine called “the best inflation fighting blueprint to come out of Congress yet.” The plan lays out specific steps to shore up supply chains, bring home manufacturing, address workforce shortages, and increase the amount of oil in our markets, all to lower costs on everyday necessities, including housing, energy, and health care.
- Helped lead the passage of the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act after serving on the related conference committee. The legislation will bring home supply chains for critical minerals and chip manufacturing — necessary for everything from defense systems to cell phones. It will lower costs, decrease dependence on China, and create jobs. The US Chamber of Commerce has said that the bill will strengthen our economy and our national security.
- Helped to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, a deficit reducing piece of legislation that will lower individual costs for families, such as health insurance, prescription drugs, and utilities. The Philadelphia Inquirer called it a “much-needed step toward lowering prescription drug costs.”
- Continues to push many pieces of legislation that will lower costs on families. For example, Houlahan is leading the effort to enact the Farm Workforce Modernization Act to address labor shortages that are straining businesses and driving up costs. In addition, Houlahan introduced a bill to ban adversaries like China from buying oil from the U.S. strategic stockpile, strengthening our national security and lowering the cost of gas to Americans.
Commenting on the release of her second ad, Congresswoman Houlahan issued the following statement:
“As the global challenge of inflation hurts Pennsylvania families and businesses, our community relies on leaders to deliver results. That’s why for months, I have been aggressively utilizing my background in supply chains to work with both parties to lower prices for families. I co-founded our New Dem Inflation Working Group and published a set of recommendations to reduce inflation, recommendations that have been praised in Forbes Magazine. I am proud that we have begun to enact many of these recommendations, like passing the CHIPS Act to get minerals into made-in-America computer chips faster. Still, there’s a lot of work to be done, and our community trusts that I will continue my efforts to address inflation, because it should be cheaper and easier to raise a family or build a business in Southeastern Pennsylvania.”
