The Philadelphia Curling Club Welcomes Canadian Curlers to the East Coast

PAOLI, PA — The Senior Women’s Friendship Tour sponsored by the United States Women’s Curling Association (USWCA) and Curling Canada will visit the Philadelphia Curling Club on November 15, 2022. The Philadelphia Curling Club is one of nine tour stops to host the four teams comprised of sixteen curlers from twelve different clubs in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Ontario, Canada.

John Gillespie, President of the Philadelphia Curling Club speaks for the Philadelphia curling community when he said, “We are delighted to welcome our Canadian visitors for curling and camaraderie. Carolyn Lloyd, President of women’s curling, known as the Philadelphia Belles, added, “It is a privilege to be a host club as they tour through the northeastern United States and we are grateful for the opportunity to curl and socialize with our Canadian counterparts.”

Initiated in 1990, the exchange tour began on a three-year rotation between the United States and Canada. The U.S. visited the Maritimes most recently in 2018. This year’s tour by the Canadians was delayed one year due to the pandemic. Women must be at least 50 years of age to participate.
