Hazardous Weather Outlook: Flash Flood Watch Issued for Chester County and Greater Region

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — A National Weather Service Flash Flood Watch is in effect from September 8, 04:00 PM EDT until September 9, 02:00 AM EDT for eastern Chester County in Pennsylvania.

From this afternoon through late tonight, thunderstorms with heavy rain are forecasted to move through the region this evening. Given the very saturated soils from recent heavy rain events, additional brief heavy rainfall of one to two inches may quickly lead to flooding of flood-prone and other low-lying areas due to rapid runoff.

Detailed Forecast

Today: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. South wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Low around 64. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Thursday: A slight chance of showers before 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. Northwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 57. Northwest wind around 5 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 73. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 53.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 76.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 83.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 64.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 64.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82.
