It looks like Chester County is in for a mixed bag of weather over the next week. The good news is that we should see plenty of sunny days, but there will also be some periods of rain and even snow. According to the latest forecast, the first system will arrive on Sunday and last through Monday night.
Weather Through Tonight
Chester County will be welcoming back the sun today after yesterday’s pesky low-level cloud deck. Although the morning started out cloudy, the sunshine will gradually start to peek through around midday as temperatures reach a high near 53°F. Welcome the return of warm sunshine today and kick off your Sunday with an outdoor stroll or bike ride! The west wind speeds between 5 to 15 mph provide a perfect breeze for any outdoor activities you partake in.
This evening, we’ll get a visit from a cold front associated with a clipper system. While the front passes through and winds veer to the northwest, temperatures will drop — although because of the lack of moisture in the air, no precipitation is anticipated. The temperature overnight will remain on the cooler side due to clear skies and light winds, ranging anywhere from the mid-20s to the low 30s. Localized areas may experience an even greater plunge into the lower teens or upper 20s if winds become completely still. Therefore, be sure to bundle up and make it an early night!
Monday Through Tuesday Night
An intense weather system is expected to be in place on Monday and into Tuesday, with a complex setup seen across the Ohio Valley. This trough will move through the Northeast on Monday and weaken, while a new surface low develops off the northern Mid-Atlantic coast during the night. Simultaneously, there will be a parent surface low that moves north of Lake Ontario on Tuesday morning, increasing levels of strong ascent which could lead to a widespread precipitation event. In Chester County, the rain is likely to begin after 5 pm on Monday with increasing clouds and temperatures around 43°F, accompanied by north winds at speeds of 5 to 10 mph that could become southeast in the afternoon. Precipitation amounts should remain low but still probable at 60%, so it might be best to have umbrellas on hand just in case!
On Monday night in Chester County, the rain is certainly unavoidable. Temperatures are expected to fall low around 34°F, while a southeast wind can be felt blowing at 10 to 15mph, picking up soon after midnight. With a chance of precipitation at 100%, Chester County residents can only expect between a quarter and half an inch of rainfall that evening. On Tuesday morning, Chester County may see some showers before 11 am with 50% chance of precipitation and less than 0.1 inches possible. The afternoon will bring mostly cloudy skies with temperatures estimated around 49°F and northwesterly winds at 5-10 mph. Thankfully Tuesday night should bring little rainfall and clear skies letting us bid the cold goodbye with temperatures dropping below 30°F.
Long-Term Weather Forcast
Chester County is forecasting a roller coaster of temperatures throughout the send half of the week, with every day bringing a distinct weather experience. On Wednesday, Chester County residents can expect mostly sunny skies, with a predicted high of 54°F. In the evening, there is a chance of light rain after 2 am. Thursday on the other hand will feature mostly cloudy skies and warmer temperatures reaching up to 60°F, but there could be rain before 2pm in the afternoon hours. The night brings yet another chance of light rain with temperatures dropping to 34°F. On Friday. Chester Countians should ready themselves for possible heavy rainfall, and potentially snow, accompanied by colder temperatures with a low near 24°F. Finally, Saturday brings some relief from the previous days’ weather as sunny skies will reach an expected high near 41°F, creating a pleasant end to the week.
