U.S. 1 (Kennett Oxford Bypass) and West Christiana Road Restricted Next Week for Bridge Inspections in Chester County

Lane closures are scheduled next week on U.S. 1 (Kennett Oxford Bypass) and West Christiana Road in Chester County for bridge inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

  • Wednesday, April 22, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, alternating lane closures are scheduled in both directions on U.S. 1 (Kennett Oxford Bypass) at the Route 272 (Nottingham Drive) interchange in West Nottingham Township, Chester County;
  • Thursday, April 23, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, alternating lane closures are scheduled in both directions on U.S. 1 (Kennett Oxford Bypass) between Route 472 (Lancaster Pike) and Route 10 (Limestone Road) interchanges in Lower Oxford Township, Chester County;
  • Thursday, April 30, from 9 AM to 3:00 PM, alternating lane closures are scheduled on West Christiana Road between Kirks Mill Road and Hopewell Road in West Nottingham Township, Chester County;

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Normal highway and bridge construction projects in Pennsylvania remain paused as part of the commonwealth’s efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. These inspections are part of critical work that continues to ensure the safety and overall condition of the structures.
