Stormwater Improvements Planned on Several State Highways in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery Counties

SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — Construction activities are planned on several state highways in Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties under a $14.9 million Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) project to improve stormwater management and facilities on more than 90 state highways across the five-county Philadelphia region.

The work schedule and location are as follows:

Chester County
  • Monday, November 6, through Friday, November 10, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 29 (Morehall Road) between Atwater Drive and the Pennsylvania Turnpike in East Whiteland Township for sawcutting; and
  • Tuesday, November 8, through Tuesday, November 15, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Hollow Road will continue to be closed weekdays between Charlestown Road and Route 29 (State Road) in Charlestown Township for stormwater replacement. Motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour route.
Delaware County
  • Monday, November 6, through Friday, November 10, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Gradyville Road between Delchester Road and Route 352 (Middletown Road) in Edgmont Township for sawcutting and stormwater replacement; and
  • Monday, November 6, through Friday, November 10, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 352 (New Middletown Road) between U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) and North Drive in Middletown Township for paving.
Montgomery County
  • Monday, November 6, through Friday, November 10, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Allentown Road between Reinert Road and Route 63/Forty Foot Road in Towamencin Township for paving; and
  • Monday, November 6, through Friday, November 10, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Susquehanna Road between Colonial Avenue and Easton Road in Abington Township for stormwater replacement.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near or through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. The schedule is weather dependent.

Highway Materials, Inc of Flourtown, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on this project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
