Prepare for Roadwork: PennDOT Announces Resurfacing of Highways

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that several state highways are scheduled for resurfacing operations in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties, under several projects to repair and pave more than 200 miles of state highway across the Philadelphia Region.

The work schedules and locations are:

Bucks County

  • Monday, May 8, through Friday, May 26, weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a moving road closure is scheduled on Headquarters Road between Sheep Hole Road and Route 32 (River Road) in Tinicum Township for milling and paving. During the closure, motorists are directed to use Geigel Hill Road, Durham Road and Route 611 (Easton Road) or Red Hill Road and Dark Hollow Road. Local access will be maintained.

Chester County

  • Monday, May 1, through Friday, May 5, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on State Road between the State Road bridge over Big Elk Creek and Barren Road in Elk Township for paving.

Delaware County

  • Sunday, April 30, through Friday, May 5, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Springfield Road between Netherwood Drive and Route 320 (Sproul Road) in Marple and Springfield townships for milling and paving.

Montgomery County

  • Sunday, April 30, through Thursday, May 4, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Broad Street/Penn Avenue/Souderton Pike between Market Street/Lincoln Avenue and Hatfield Souderton Pike in Hatfield Borough and Franconia Township for milling;
  • Monday, May 1, through Friday, May 5, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 73 (Skippack Pike) between Route 29 (Gravel Pike) and Green Hill Road in Worcester and Perkiomen townships and Skippack Borough for paving;
  • Monday, May 1, through Friday, May 5, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Broad Street/Penn Avenue/Souderton Pike between Market Street/Lincoln Avenue and Hatfield Souderton Pike in Hatfield Borough and Franconia Township for utility adjustments; and
  • Tuesday, May 2, through Friday, May 5, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure is scheduled on Matsonford Road between County Line Road and Route 320 (Gulph Road/Montgomery Avenue) and Matsonford Road/Fayette Street between Rebel Hill Road and Elm Street in Upper Merion and Lower Merion townships and West Conshohocken and Conshohocken boroughs for milling and paving.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under these resurfacing projects, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surfaces and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.
