VALLEY FORGE, PA — The Washington Memorial Heritage and David Cross of Indispensable Leadership (LLC) have announced the April session of the Leadership Forum, featuring renowned historian and author Thomas J. McGuire. The event will be held Thursday, April 13 at the Washington Memorial Chapel in Patriots Hall. Doors open at 6 PM with refreshments being served prior to the start at 6:30 PM.

During the lecture, McGuire will discuss the battles of the American Revolution that occurred in the Philadelphia area and read excerpts from his successful two-volume book compilation, which chronicles these events.

Hailed as a “first-rate, absorbing work of tenacious research and close scholarship” by Two-Time Pulitzer Prize-Winning Author and Historian David McCullough, The Philadelphia Campaign is considered to be one of the most thought-provoking works on this subject.

In fact, McCullough goes on to say “Thomas J. McGuire knows the time of the American Revolution and has been over the ground in and about Philadelphia in a way few writers ever have. His empathy for the human reality of war and the great variety of people caught up in it, whether in the service of the king or of the Glorious Cause of America, makes this book especially alive and memorable.”

The Philadelphia Campaign is one of three regionally-focused historic books. His others include The Surprise of Germantown and The Battle of Paoli. His work on the Battle of Paoli is considered the most complete documentation of the Revolutionary War battle, and was instrumental in preserving the battlefield as a historic site.

McGuire is a native of the Philadelphia area, and he attended Malvern Preparatory School before earning his B.A. and M.A. in History from Villanova University. In addition to writing, McGuire teaches history in Malvern, PA.

The Washington Memorial Heritage Leadership Forum Series is a History/Leadership and Author Events Program at the Washington Memorial Chapel. Drawing upon America’s Revolutionary history, the program examines the challenges and decisions faced by the country’s Founders. Analyzing their experiences, the program provides lessons which help attendees in their business and personal life.

The price is $20 per person per session, which can be paid at the door; students with proof of student status will be admitted free.
