WEST CHESTER, PA — The Fund for Women and Girls will host its third annual Girls in Action Summit on Saturday, May 15, 2021, from 9:00am-12:30pm at the Charles A. Melton Arts and Education Center in West Chester.
Inspired by The Fund’s award-winning Girls Advisory Board (GAB) girls’ grantmaking and leadership program, the Summit engages high school girls in grades 9-12 throughout Chester County for an empowering morning of action. Girls in grades 9-12 from Chester County are invited to learn about the deep and varied needs in their communities while engaging in strategic grantmaking.
This year, The Fund is thrilled to welcome keynote speaker Lynette Medley, Founder and CEO of No More Secrets: Mind Body Spirit Inc. An expert in areas of gender justice, racial justice, reproductive justice and menstrual justice, her passion lies in promoting inclusivity. Recently, Lynette and her daughter Nya opened The SPOT Period – the nation’s first crowdfunded menstrual hub – in Philadelphia.
- Connect with fellow teens throughout Chester County
- Hear from leaders of local non-profits about their racial justice work in our communities and how they are leading through the pandemic
- Be inspired by keynote speaker Lynette Medley
- Give back to their community by awarding two $500 grants to local non-profits
- Learn about local girls with their own businesses and other resources for girls
Menstrual Product Drive: At this year’s Summit, The Fund will also be collecting period products (tampons, pads, wipes, liners, and menstrual cups) to donate to No More Secrets and local women and girls in need. Attendees are encouraged to bring along an item (or two!).
