Supporting the Arts in Kennett Square Community

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — In 1992, active community member Neil Clarence Joines passed away after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer.  The Neil Joines Foundation was formed in 2013 to honor his legacy and fulfill his passion for the arts and giving back to his Kennett Square community.

It is part of the family of funds that comprise the Chester County Community Foundation. Community volunteers convene each year to recommend grant distributions for the fund. Neil was a very active member of his community serving on many nonprofit boards. He conceived and led the Kennett Arts Festival.

Neil continues to support many of the causes beyond his lifetime via his charitable estate. His charitable fund supports the Kennett Symphony Orchestra along with other organizations providing arts and culture programming to residents within the Kennett community.

Funding can also be used to support musicians and artists by providing artistic honorariums scholarships to worthy students and/or to provide awards and prizes to winners of local competitions. It was also in Neil’s wishes that piano, art and music competitions be continued for artists in the Kennett Square area.

The Neil Joines Foundation is proud to announce the grant award recipients, chosen for their arts programs: Brandywine Valley Chorale, Garage Community Youth Center, Camp Dreamcatcher, Kennett after School Association, Anson B. Nixon Park of Kennett Area Park Authority, Kennett Flash, and Kennett Symphony of Chester County.

The Chester County Community Foundation is honored to have The Neil Joines Foundation as part of its family of funds.
