NORTH COVENTRY, PA — The North Coventry Township Police Department. in conjunction with the Chester County District Attorney’s Office and the Chester County Fire Marshal’s Office, has announced the arrest of Toni Kirk.
Authorities state Kirk was a resident of the Ashwood Apartment Complex located at 782 Worth Blvd. Apartment 315, Pottstown, PA 19465. On the night of July 30, 2020, at approx. 7:20 pm, 911 calls were received at the Chester County 911 Dispatch Center reporting that the building was on fire.
The North Coventry Township Police and the Norco Fire Company were dispatched to the scene. As first responders arrived, fire was observed on the third floor of the building within Apartment 315.
Through the course of the investigation, authorities state Kirk was identified as being the tenant and was present at the time of the fire. Witnesses place Kirk as the only person seen exiting the unit on the third floor just prior to the building alarms activating.
Subsequently, Kirk was interviewed by investigators and admitted that she was present, but alleges that another person started the fire. The Chester County Fire Marshal has ruled the fire incendiary.
At the present time, Kirk is in the custody of the Broome County Sheriff’s Department in Binghamton, NY awaiting extradition back to Pennsylvania.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
