Police Charge Lincoln University Woman with Strangulation, AssaultDana A. McKelvey, age 36, of Lincoln University (Southern Chester County Regional Police Department)

NEW GARDEN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Southern Chester County Regional Police have charged Dana A. McKelvey, age 36, of Lincoln University with Strangulation, Simple Assault, and Harassment following a physical altercation.

The incident occurred on Monday April 28, 2020 at 2:23 p.m., in the 1600 block of Baltimore Pike, in New Garden Township.

The victim, who police say was observed with fresh red marks around his throat and neck, stated that McKelvey struck him in the face and wrapped her hands around his neck, to the point it impeded his breathing.

McKelvey admitted the act to police and was taken into custody.  She was transported to Chester County Prison, where she was processed and held for arraignment.

McKelvey was committed after failing to post bail. The case is pending a preliminary hearing.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
