COATESVILLE, PA — The Chester County District Attorney’s Office and Coatesville City Police Department announced the arrest of Adriene Renee Rodriguez for arson, multiple counts of attempted arson, and related offenses for setting fire to one Coatesville police vehicle and attempting to set fire to numerous other police and employee vehicles.
District Attorney Deb Ryan stated, “This is an outrageous and disturbing case. Attacks on law enforcement will not be tolerated. The Coatesville City Police should be commended for their swift response to diffuse the situation.”
The allegations from the criminal complaint are as follows:
On May 3, 2020, at approximately 8:42 p.m., Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie, from the Coatesville City Police Department, observed a police vehicle on fire in the police department’s parking lot. Cpl. Ingemie immediately ran back into the station to retrieve a fire extinguisher and put out the fire. Cpl. Ingemie then noticed a trail of fluid on that vehicle toward three additional police vehicles and two personal cars of Coatesville Police Department employees.
There was fire and heat damage to the police vehicle set on fire. The incident was recorded by video surveillance cameras. An investigation revealed that she had been stopped earlier that day by police resulting in her car being towed.
The defendant is 33 years old.
The defendant was arrested and arraigned on May 4, 2020. Bail was set at $75,000 cash. The defendant was unable to post bail and was remanded to Chester County Prison.
Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
