Free Professional Clothing and Confidence Boost for Women at Open Wardrobe Smart & Sexy Day

GREATER PHILADELPHIA — In a move designed to boost self-confidence and employability among women, The Wardrobe is set to hold Open Wardrobe education and clothing events in four locations across the Greater Philadelphia area. The event, scheduled for Thursday, March 28, is part of National Smart & Sexy Day©, an initiative sponsored by The Alliance of Career Development Nonprofits (ACDN) in honor of Women’s History Month.

The events will take place in Philadelphia, Upper Darby, Chester, Exton, and Kennett Square. Women attending these events will receive free bra fittings, a Smart & Sexy bra, and professional or casual clothing – all aimed at offering them “maximum uplift.” Additionally, guests can attend a “Suit Up for your Interview” presentation at all locations at 10 a.m., with shopping open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. To RSVP, visit The Wardrobe website.

Smart & Sexy Day events were launched in 2012 by ACDN, a leading network of unique community-based nonprofits that empower individuals to achieve economic independence. The events aim to inspire women by boosting their self-confidence, helping them feel more assured, confident, and most importantly, employable.

ACDN fosters the creation and growth of community-based organizations that assist individuals to secure and maintain employment. All ACDN member organizations offer free professional clothing, allowing job seekers to make a great first impression. Each year, member agencies of ACDN assist more than 25,000 people across the country transition into the workplace. The professional clothing, training, and coaching services provided by member agencies help people coming out of poverty, welfare, and other dire circumstances prepare for and succeed in the workplace. Since ACDN’s inception, over 300,000 women and men have been outfitted with interview attire.

The Wardrobe, the host of the Open Wardrobe events, is a mission-driven nonprofit organization focused on eliminating clothing insecurity, curbing fashion waste, and empowering people for success. Each year, through the support of donors and shoppers, The Wardrobe helps 6,000 people shine with confidence in their new outfits.

The organization offers the STAR Treatment – Styling, Time, Advice, and Respect – to its guests, who include people seeking to stabilize their lives after experiencing trauma, incarceration, or homelessness; those seeking affirming clothing for their gender identity; and those transitioning or just beginning careers.

These Open Wardrobe Smart & Sexy Day events are more than just a chance for women to receive free professional clothing. They also provide an opportunity for them to gain self-confidence, learn valuable job-hunting skills, and be part of a supportive community. Ultimately, these events aim to empower women and aid them in achieving economic independence, contributing to a stronger and more vibrant Greater Philadelphia region.
