Wilmington Resident with Active Arrest Warrant Apprehended after Altercation with West Chester Police

WEST CHESTER, PA — The West Chester Police Department announced the apprehension of a 23-year-old Wilmington resident with an active arrest warrant issued out of Philadelphia.

The criminal complaint alleges that on April 27, 2023, at approximately 9:40 PM, Officers responded to the 500 Block of E. Miner St. for the report of a disturbance. Upon contact with an individual identified as Najae Thomas, a 23-year-old from Wilmington, Delaware, it was discovered that he had an active arrest warrant in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. When officers tried to take Thomas into custody, he tried to escape on foot and resisted arrest, leading to a physical altercation. Eventually, officers overpowered and apprehended him.

After Thomas’ escape attempt and resisting arrest, he was taken to West Chester Police Department for processing. He’s been charged with these offenses and transported to Chester County Prison for arraignment. A preliminary hearing is pending at District Court 15-1-04.
