West Chester Apartment Fire: Man Arrested for Intentionally Setting Fire

WEST CHESTER, PA — A man from West Chester, PA has been arrested and charged with intentionally setting fire to an apartment building located on the 100 block of W. Miner St.

The fire occurred on February 20, 2023, at around 6:39 PM and resulted in the evacuation of several residents, including children. No injuries were reported. Authorities say an investigation revealed that 53-year-old Mark Benzinger set fire to the rear of the building knowing that people were inside. The police arrested Benzinger and took him to into custody without incident.

He was arraigned at Chester County Prison and a preliminary hearing is pending at District Court 15-1-01.
