Wanted Delaware County Man Turns Himself In at Chester County Magisterial District Court

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — A resident of Morton, Delaware County, Pennsylvania turned himself in at Chester County Magisterial District Court 15-3-04 on June 21, 2022, after a warrant had been issued for his arrest as the result of a sexual assault investigation.

James Nania, Jr., age 19, has been arrested and charged with Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse and 11 additional charges, announced the Kennett Square Police Department.

Authorities state that on June 12, 2022, the Kennett Square Police Department was alerted to the sexual assault that took place in Kennett Square Borough on June 11, 2022. The child victim initially reported the offense to the Kennett Township Police Department; however, jurisdictional boundaries turned this investigation over to the Kennett Square Police Department. Nania was identified as having met the victim through the social media application, Snapchat. The victim, who is less than 16 years of age and more than 4 years younger than Nania, left their house with Nania in the middle of the night. The victim reported that Nania filmed them engaging in sexual activity.

Nania has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse – Person Less than 16
  • Interference w/ Custody of Children
  • Statutory Sexual Assault: 4-8 years older
  • Aggravated Indecent Assault – Comp Less 16 Yrs Age
  • Indecent Exposure
  • Corruption of Minors – Defendant Age 18 or Above
  • Photograph/Film/Depict on Computer Sex Act – Knowingly or Permitting Child
  • Photograph/Film/Depict on Computer Sex Act – Knowingly Depicts on Computer
  • Child Pornography
  • Unlawful Contact with Minor – Sexual Offenses
  • Contact/Comm w/ Minor-Sexual Abuse
  • Criminal Use Of Communication Facility

Sgt. Gravina, a member of the Chester County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, investigated the incident. The Kennett Square Police Department was assisted by the Kennett Township, Marple Township (Delaware County), and Springfield Township (Delaware County) Police Departments and the Chester County Detectives during various stages of this investigation.
