Wanted Berks County Man Arrested on Drug Charges in Kennett Square

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — A resident of Hamburg, Berks County has been arrested and charged by the Kennett Square Police Department with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act (Act 64).

Shawn McCarthy, age 43,  was apprehended after he was found to be in possession of marijuana and related paraphernalia, following a traffic stop of a vehicle he was operating.

Authorities state that the incident occurred on June 7, 2022, at 12:36 PM, in the 500 Block of S. Walnut Street, Kennett Square Borough. While McCarthy was in custody, a warrant out of Lebanon County was confirmed. McCarthy was transported to Central Booking for arraignment. Charges were filed at Chester County Magisterial District Court 15-3-04.

McCarthy has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Restriction on Alcoholic Beverages
  • Following Too Closely
