WILMINGTON, DE — A 13-year-old male has been charged in connection with a stolen vehicle incident that occurred on April 26, 2025, according to Wilmington Police.
The series of events began around 2:23 p.m. when officers from the Uniformed Services Division observed a vehicle identified as stolen near the intersection of West 34th and North Broom Streets. Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver allegedly refused to comply and fled the area.
Shortly thereafter, the stolen vehicle was located in the 800 block of West Lea Boulevard. At this location, a male suspect reportedly abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot. After a brief pursuit, officers apprehended the 13-year-old juvenile suspect without incident and recovered the stolen vehicle.
Following the arrest, the juvenile was charged with multiple offenses, including Receiving Stolen Property Over $1,500, Criminal Mischief Under $1,000, Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal, and Resisting Arrest. Additional traffic violations were also added to the charges.
The juvenile was arraigned at New Castle County Family Court and subsequently released on $1,000 unsecured bail.
Authorities have emphasized that the suspect, like all defendants, is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Wilmington Police have not disclosed any further details about the case.
