State Police Investigating Scam Text Messages in Atglen

ATGLEN, PA — State Police in Chester County are investigating a scam where the victim was prompted to send money under the threat of harm.

Officials state that on September 28, 2021, an unidentified caller sent a text message to the victim, a resident of Atglen, Chester County, Pennsylvania. The text messages stated that the victim’s family would be harmed if he did not transfer money to a disclosed account.

Throughout their investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police determined that the text messages came from a texting service and appeared to be a scam. All personal information about the victim, displayed in the text messages, was found online.

Information is subject to change at any time. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
