Reading Man Arrested in West Chester for Simple Assault

WEST CHESTER, PA — The West Chester Police Department announced the arrest of Brian Jara, a 20-year-old Hispanic male from Reading, PA on Simple Assault and related charges.

Authorities state that on September 11, 2021 at approximately 3:45 am, officers of the West Chester Police Department responded to the 300 block of E. Marshall Street for a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male and a female involved in the disturbance. Through investigation, Police say it was determined that Brian Jara had assaulted the female victim for a period of time prior to the report being made and officers’ arrival on the scene. The victim sustained minor injuries. Jara was taken into custody and transported to Chester County Prison pending a preliminary hearing.

Jara was charged with the following offenses:

  • (18) 2701 (a)(1) Simple Assault
  • (18) 2701 (A)(3) Simple Assault
  • (18) 2705 – Recklessly Endangering Another
