WEST CHESTER, PA — Michael D. Johnson, a 42-year-old Philadelphia man, has been extradited to Chester County on theft and forgery charges, announced the Westtown-East Goshen Police Department.

Authorities say that Johnson was released from the custody of the Philadelphia Department of Prisons to the custody of the Westtown-East Goshen Police Department on January 30, 2023, in connection to an arrest warrant issued in October 2019. The warrant was the result of an investigation into the unauthorized use of an East Goshen Township resident’s credit card in May 2019.

Johnson is charged with 4 counts of Theft By Unlawful Taking, 4 counts of Receiving Stolen Property, 4 counts of Forgery, and 4 counts of Access Device Fraud. His bail has been set at $15,000 (Unsecured), and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 27, 2023.

Information, a criminal complaint, or an arrest is not a declaration of guilt. A suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
