SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA — A Schuylkill County man has been charged in connection with the sexual abuse of a 9-month-old child, an incident authorities describe as deeply disturbing and among the most serious cases they have encountered.

Attorney General Dave Sunday announced Thursday that Jalvi DeJesus Nunez, 19, of Shenandoah, has been arrested and charged with numerous offenses, including sexual abuse of children, possession of sexual abuse material, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault, and related crimes. Nunez’s bail has been set at $100,000.

According to officials, the investigation began earlier this month when the Shenandoah Police Department received a report from a witness who claimed to have seen a video of Nunez engaged in sexual contact with an infant. A second witness also viewed the recording and corroborated the allegations.

Acting swiftly, the Shenandoah Police Department contacted the Office of Attorney General’s Child Predator Section. Within hours, agents collaborated with local authorities to secure evidence, leading to a search warrant and seizure of the incriminating video from Nunez’s cellphone. During the investigation, Nunez allegedly provided a statement to authorities.

Attorney General Sunday described the allegations as “heinous” and commended law enforcement for their rapid response in removing the suspect from the community. He emphasized the particular vulnerability of the young victim, stressing the state’s commitment to pursuing justice in cases involving child exploitation.
